All plants grown and harvested at Brightflower Nursery are certified organic by MOSA (Midwest Organic Services Assn).

Brightflower Nursery was established in July 2006 by Jeanie McKewan & Michael Staver. The four-acre nursery is situated in the Driftless Area of Northwestern Illinois in Stockton. All Brightflower Nursery products are produced using strict organic principles. In the greenhouses, organically grown vegetables, herbs, edible and ornamental flowers are grown while organic field production focuses on cut flowers. All Brightflower items are available directly from Brightflower Nursery's Garden Center which is open during the gardening season Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We also sell at select farmers markets, wholesale and retail florists, and area markets.

Jeanie McKewan brings 12 years of horticultural experience, passion and commitment to growing the finest plant materials available. She earned her Environmental Science degree from Willamette University, a Plant Pathology degree from OSU, and is a Certified Landscape Professional (CLP). She began in 1996 as General Manager of Montale Gardens in Wauconda, Illinois, and served for nearly two years as Nursery Operations Manager for award-winning Craig Bergmann Landscape Design before founding her own nursery. As founder of Brightflower Nursery, she is devoted to providing beauty and fullness of life through her plants and flowers.

A true Renaissance man, co-owner Michael Staver is a talented chef, educator and scientist. His passion for healthy and delicious food inspired the wonderful garden combinations offered by Brightflower Nursery. His recipes are included with each beautiful container, to provide Brightflowers customers with easy to prepare, delicious meals using the ingredients right from their Brightflower container gardens.
